About Paladin International and its Founder, Daniel Reid

Paladin is an international business development, negotiations, crisis and risk management consulting firm. Our negotiations side specializes in new country entry facilitation, contract and joint venture negotiations, business development, government liaison, and international business problem solving. Paladin also teaches international business and negotiations for Colorado State University and designs in-house negotiations courses for corporations and government entities. The Special Operations Branch provides risk assessment, crisis management planning and solutions as well as security services including audits and threat mitigation oversight. It also teaches executive awareness and provides facilitation for protection of company personnel and assets in high-risk areas throughout the world.

Significant achievements/contributions 1997 to present

• Opened Paladin International, LLC, an international negotiations, business development and security firm
• Managed asset issues in the UK for a large Canadian oil and gas company upon acquisition of a similar diverse company. Responsibilities included negotiations and mediation of contracts, sales of assets and security matters in Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Falkland Islands, Ivory Coast, Libya, Mongolia, North Sea, Romania, Syria and Yemen
• Designed security and travel policy for a substantial independent oil and gas company in Algeria, Yemen and other high risk areas
• Performed security audit for a major oil and gas company in Algeria
• Teach negotiations, International business and crisis planning and management for Colorado State University
• Designed and taught negotiation techniques in the Middle East to ADNOC, ARAMCO and KOC as well as negotiations courses and seminars for numerous companies and organizations (see Services)
• Designed a strategic plan for a $500MM US domestic oil company including legal and negotiations procedures, security and intelligence planning
• Co-designed and managed the in country oil and gas field reactivation project for a Latin American National Oil Company
• Managed security functions including security and crisis planning, travel security and international planning and field operations for a $1 Billion + US independent oil and gas company. Performed ongoing security audits in the US, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Yemen. Performed all security and personnel/asset protection functions in New Orleans for company following losses due to Hurricane Katrina.
• Member of due diligence team on behalf of a large US independent oil and gas company for multi-million dollar acquisition and divestiture

Employment by and contributions to a $1.5 billion+ Australian oil and gas corp. - 1987 to 1997

• Developed extensive set of contacts throughout domestic and international oil industry
• Set up and managed international negotiations group responsible for joint ventures, strategic associations, bidding, acquisitions, farmouts/farmins, sales, country risk profiles and security. Managed and directed all legal services.
• Lead negotiator for formation of the bid group and subsequent joint venture that acquired the Quiramare and La Cieba Block, Venezuela
• Lead negotiator for the successful acquisition and subsequent joint venture that acquired Block Z-29, offshore Peru
• Lead negotiator and security coordinator for the formation of a strategic joint venture and subsequent successful acquisition of 3 Blocks in the Upper Llanos Basin in Colombia and an ongoing evaluation and acquisition joint venture
• Lead negotiator for the formation of a strategic joint venture and study group to evaluate pipeline construction and gas marketing opportunities from northern Argentina into Brazil
• Lead negotiator for the formation of study groups to evaluate bidding rounds and opportunities in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico
• Negotiated, closed and managed all North American land activities: joint ventures, acquisitions, farmouts/farmins, sales, administration and product marketing. Managed/directed all legal services.
• Sold all non-strategic properties acquired in a major acquisition
• Negotiated and closed strategic joint venture for evaluation and participation in offshore US
• Negotiated and closed various strategic joint ventures in Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, North Dakota, California, Colorado, Texas and Louisiana
• Developed in-house contractual capabilities and administrative procedures for Powder River Basin Minnelusa waterflood ventures
• Negotiated and settled several significant legal actions; managed 3 major litigations
• Set up and managed oil and gas marketing program for all US assets
• Negotiated and executed Purchase and Sale Agreement for sale of all North American properties - Closed sale 1 April 1997
